ParaTrade – Smart Copy-Trading Dashboard

Overview

ParaTradewas an online trading dashboard designed to bridge the gap between expert and beginner traders. It enabled beginners to copy-trade from professionals with a subscription model, while also offering automated asset allocation and smart trade execution tools for advanced users.

Although the project was ultimately paused before full launch, the design process was rich with challenges and deep learning.

Design Process Summary

1. Discovery & Learning

• The project began with multiple briefing sessions with stakeholders and the project manager
• As someone new to the trading domain, I had to rapidly onboard and understand core concepts like:
• Market, Limit, Stop-Limit, and OCO trading types
• Copy-trading systems
• Spot vs. Futures
• SAsset allocation mechanics
• I also conducted a competitive analysis of trading dashboards and copy-trading platforms to identify standard patterns and UX pain points

2. Content Understanding & Planning

• Each trading function had unique inputs, risks, and logic — I worked closely with stakeholders to map out user flows and ensure inputs aligned with system requirements
• Used simplified UI patterns to reduce the complexity of advanced features like:
• Selecting exchanges
• Adjusting portfolio allocation ratios
• Managing active subscriptions to traders

3. UI Design Execution

• Focused on modular dashboard components to handle complex data displays
• Created clean, focused layouts to help new users navigate confidently while giving pros the control they needed
• Designed interaction logic for subscription flows, trading setups, and asset rebalancing

4. Iteration

• After each page or flow, we had review sessions to test clarity and accuracy
• Adjusted designs based on team feedback to better reflect trading realities and edge cases

Final Designs

Outcome

• Delivered a scalable dashboard structure with three integrated tools
• Simplified navigation and visual hierarchy for fast scanning of data-heavy content
• Set a foundation for development team to build and expand the platform
